Dr. Gregory Kyriakou was born and raised in Athens, but originates from Papados, a village in Gera Lesvos island.
He graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Iasi, Romania in 1984. His thesis on “Hormone Receptors in Breast Cancer” rated “excellent 10”. He then continued his studies in New York , U.S.A and other European cities such as Glasgow, Brussells and Amsterdam.
He is specialized in surgery in Greece and since 2003 has his private Medical Cabinet in Neo Psychico.
He has worked in many public hospitals during his specialty residence, but also in private hospitals in Greece and abroad (USA, UK, Netherlands).
He is currently a medical associate in many private Greek Hospitals: “Hygeia“, “Athens Medical Center Marousi“, “Athens Medical Center Psychiko“, ”MITERA“, “Leto“, “Attico Clinic” and “Lefkos Stavros”.
In 1997 he founded the first and only company for air ambulance transfer of patients in Greece, Gamma Air Medical LTD, specializing in Air Medical Services and patient air transportation.
He has participated in many Greek and international conferences, several times as a speaker himself.
Since 2000 he has conducted numerous workshops about breast or thyroid diseases (which are his specialty), or other medical issues in various cities of Greece (Karditsa, Agios Edipsou, Eretria, Hydra, Maroussi, Agioi Anargyroi). In these workshops he offered free breast exams to the ladies who attended.
He was Chairman of the organizing committee of the 1st Conference “Caring in the Skies” in September 2000 in Athens.
He is a Certified Aviation Medical Examiner from the HCAA.
He is a private pilot himself.
Dr. Kyriakou has a variety of activities and participation in various scientific and non-governmental non profitable organizations. Indeed, as a member of the Greek and French section of “Doctors Without Borders” he practised pro bono in Somalia, Sri Lanka and Yugoslavia.
